How to help prevent back injuries
Start an exercise routine that works your core . Strong core muscles provide support for the lower back and this helps to avoid injury. Low-impact cardio exercises, such as walking, increases blood flow to the spine, which supplies healing nutrients and hydration to the muscles, and tendons in your lower back. If an exercise routine is almost impossible to adhere to, make the effortl to slowly get yourself moving. Just climbing up and down your stairs a few times repeatedly, walking with a friend, or sitting on an exercise ball for a few minutes.
Work on proper posture Poor posture can put pressure on your back and can cause degenerated discs to become more enflamed. Support the natural curve in your lower spine by using an ergonomic chair. Try to frequently check your posture as your work throughout the day. If you sit for the majority of the day, try to get up and walk around at least once an hour. If you have access to one, use a standup desk for at least part of the day. Use proper lifting techniques when moving objects both at work and at home. Always bend with the hips and knees and not with your back.
