Why Does My Hand Hurt?

Your hand and wrist have many small joints that are working together to
provide seamless motion. This motion is supposed to be pain and stress
free, but some people may experience pain in those joints that are often
compared to your hand "falling asleep" or a "burning" sensation. This
pain will occur after extended periods of joint use, such as gripping or
grasping. It may not be an immediate pain, but can follow hours or days
later. If this sounds like you, you could have an early form of
arthritis. As the cartilage around your wrist and hand wears away, there
is a less material available to provide shock absorption. It is
recommended that you visit a doctor as soon as you can to have them
examine the pain in your hand. You could have a form of arthritis or a
fracture in your hand that may cause long-term and permanent damage. A
doctor will be able to diagnose and recommend treatment specialized to
your situation.
